You might have made tremendous efforts fighting and struggling with your acne problem and finally got rid of them but they may have left behind another problem for you – Scars. Some of you would be tired of applying various ointments and creams that claim to remove your scars but did not find any major success yet. While some of you would be confused regarding what to buy and what not.

You usually go for the product whose advertisement made a mark in your mind or the one recommended by your friend. Then you find out, that the thing which works for others might not work for you in the same way.

There are many lotions, scrubs, gels, creams, moisturizers, cleansing agents and other treatments available in the market that get deep into your skin pores and remove dead skin clogging, bacterium and toxins present there. This is the blockage in the skin pores, which is caused due to bacteria or dead skin that lead to the formation of acne.

You need not suffer from your acne problem anymore. Just go to the nearby pharmacy or chemist and get one topical product for yourself. What needs to be given attention is do consult your dermatologist or go through the reviews in the interne before actually using any product.

You should make certain changes in your eating habits as well. Increase the quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet and lessen the intake of junk foods and other fried food stuffs that lead to the clogging of skin pores further propagating the zits to appear. Drink lots of water as it cleanses the toxins from our body and help to prevent deep or under skin acne formation.

If you really don’t want to look into the mirror with a feeling of disgust then make the above mentioned changes in your routine consumption and see the change.

You might have seen that your friend is following no dietary restrictions and consuming glycemic and processed foods (one of the causes of acne) and yet enjoys smooth skin while you are prone to acne even after making efforts to follow the restrictions. Although the reasons for this are not yet fully known but they are supposed to hereditary factors and several other factors mentioned below.

•	Use of anabolic steroids that are the synthetic steroid hormones used to stimulate muscle and bone growth.
•	Use of that medication that comprise of androgens (male sex hormones), lithium and barbiturates (a type of sedative drug).
•	Vulnerability to certain chemical compounds that lead to toxic exposure to dioxins (hydrocarbons which occur as impurities).
•	Vulnerability to halogens. Acne caused due to exposure to halogens is referred as halogen acne.
•	Chronic use of drugs like pep pills.
•	Hormones like testosterone, DHT, DHEAS, insulin (IGF-I) are also linked to formation of acne.

Formation of acne in later ages is quite uncommon. True acne in adult women may feature in particular conditions like pregnancy and disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome. Acne may also occur at the period of menopause in females as production of the natural anti-acne ovarian hormone fails at that time. The lack of estradiol (anti acne ovarian hormone) also causes thinning hair, hot flashes, thin skin, wrinkles, vaginal dryness as well as severe acne.

Some of you may have doubled your worries because you might have mistaken your mild acne or simple bumps as a problem of severe acne. You need to know here that worrying about anything will take your stress level high and high stress levels further propagate the formulation of acne. So, it would be wise that you get the affected skin diagnosed before making out any conclusion.

Its diagnosis is very simple; you just visit a dermatologist, he will observe the bump or lesion and may press it a bit to get an idea of its severity. You can also diagnose it by yourself. If you notice a small cyst or a rounded lesion, then it’s severe. Other than this, there are various grading scales available in the market to check the severity of acne. Three of these are mentioned below.

1.	Leeds acne grading technique: It counts and then categories the lesions into two groups – inflammatory lesions and non-inflammatory lesions. It ranges from 0 to10.
2.	Cook’s acne grading scale: It makes use of the pictures to grade the severity of the lesion. It ranges from 0 to 8.
3.	Pillsbury scale: It is a very simple scale that just classifies the severity of the acne from 1 (least severe) to 4 (most severe).

The basic reason of pimples to appear and reappear on the skin is acne. To have a good understanding of the said statement, you need to know the causes of acne.

Acne occurs due to the presence of the painful bumps that lie under the skin. It is caused due to the inflammation of the hair vesicles and sebaceous glands as a result of excessive production of sebum, hormones and the responsiveness of immune to the foreign bodies.

It is still not known that why the hair vesicles get squeezed but it is very clear that acne is the effect of obstruction of the hair vesicles. When more sebum is produced and it does not get any place for secretion, it busts the hair vesicles and blocks them with the dead skin cells. Then, as the sebum itself is not able to pop out of the skin, a lesion or a bump appears on the outer skin layer that is the whitehead. On the other hand, if the sebum pops out of the skin, then a lesion or bump so appeared is the blackhead.

Try to limit the intake of too spicy foods as it is one of the causes of acne formation. Other causes include the hormonal disturbances, poor immune system and the hereditary reasons.

There is a very common misconception among people that acne is caused by dirt. It might have come from the fact that blackheads look as if dirt is stuck in the openings of the skin pores. The black color is actually not dirt but it is oxidized keratin. Keratin is a fibrous scleroprotein whose blockages of keratin cause acne to occur deep into the narrow follicles, where it is not possible to remove them by washing. So maintaining your personal hygiene is must as the oil build up in the skin pores, due to over active oil glands, tend to aggravate acne.

Recently, researchers have found out an association between skimmed milk, cream cheese and acne which is supposed to be caused by hormones. Studies also show that, the less you consume processed foods and glycemic foods, the less are your chances to be acne prone.

In addition to your personal hygiene and dietary restrictions, proper care of skin is very essential. Don’t give any opportunity to blackheads, whiteheads, zits, cysts or blemishes to appear on your skin. And even if they do occur, take some action soon. Applying tooth paste or fresh garlic paste on zits also work wonderfully.

Acne is the most common problem that initiates in the teenage, affecting more than 85% of teenagers, and frequently goes up to adulthood. The cause of acne is generally an increase in the number of male sex hormones, which individuals of both sexes accrue during puberty. Females are prone to acne at the time of their menstrual cycle. In most of the cases, acne decreases over time and tends to disappear. There is, however, no particular way to find out how long it will take to disappear entirely, and some individuals may continue to suffer from it well into their thirties, and even late forties.

Sometimes, acne may act as a precursor to pimples or vice versa. It is then very important to get their treatment done, leaving no scope for them to appear.

There are different treatments for pimples, some of the most common and effective treatments are:
Use of salicylic acid soap: It is very effective for the bacterial and fungal pimples i.e. the pimples caused due to skin infection. It just requires washing your face regularly with salicylic acid soap.

Use of Antibiotics: If the skin infection is caused by staphylococcus or other bacterium then, using antibiotics is a better option.
